Undocumented Immigrants Hope to Live Legally in America

There are more than 12 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, who are looking forward to live legally in the country and many DREAMers in America are still dreaming for a better future. They now expect the president to push for a comprehensive immigration reform that would grant them legal status. DREAM Act is nothing but the “Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act”, that will allow the undocumented immigrants in the United States to remain in the country legally, by granting them permanent resident status.

Hector Morales, an undocumented immigrant in the United States, who has now applied for deferred action, says that he was unable to pursue education and open a bank account because of his immigration status. He says that he was not living a normal life and he also says that he always went around with a fear of deportation.

Hector who is going to receive deferred action, meets all the prerequisites and he was brought to America when he was a minor and he does not have a criminal history. Once his deferred action application is approved, he will receive his work permit and with that he can work legally in America and he need not work illegally, anymore.

In August, deferred action policy was implemented by President Barack Obama and this program will shelve the deportation of thousands of law-abiding undocumented immigrants, who entered America as minors. Hector who is an undocumented immigrant collected all the supporting documents and filed his DACA application in August.

President Obama, while implementing the deferred action program, stated that the innocent undocumented immigrants who were brought to America at a very young age, must not be placed in removal proceedings. He also stated that most of them go to school in America, they want to serve in the military and they also contribute to the growth of the country. Every undocumented immigrant in America, including Hector wants President Obama to reform the immigration law. President Obama wants to reform America’s immigration law as soon as possible and he has planned to introduce a new bill in January.
